A Baby Seahorse!

I went to the Adelaide Zoo recently and was lucky enough to see a baby seahorse. The zoo has a population of an Australian seahorse, the Hippocampus abdominalis, commonly known as the Pot-Bellied Seahorse or Big-Bellied Seahorse. Their adult males were very pregnant and new arrivals were imminent. In seahorses it’s the males that give birth to live young. On the day that I went, there was on new arrival at the top of the tank.

It was frustrating at being unable to film the seahorse fry, (baby seahorse), with my macro lens on my DSLR camera as I was too short. I had to make do with my iPhone4. It didn’t turn out too bad.

On the site, we have given complete credit to you, and linked our post to your original article, as well as providing a link to your blog’s home address.

If there’s any reason you would not like to have your content redistributed on our site, please let us know so we can take it down (it is scheduled to be posted on 5/2/2010 @ 11:45am).

Otherwise, drop us a line to let us know what you think of our project, as we love your work and hope to able to showcase more of it (if you get to SA again) in the future.

    Cheers,
    John
